nothing too bad, just that it’s gross to put them in the washer

  215. Jenny replied:

    I just couldn’t do that, it’s gross.

I don’t know about anyone else, but when it comes to kids, there seems to be a whole lot of gross going on. Get over it people LOL

  216. Caitlin replied:

    that’s gross!!!

  217. Lisanne replied:

I guess I have been pretty lucky. People are usually indifferent or approving.

  218. Nicole replied:

you put those in your washing machine. ewww. then your other cloths. oh i just could never do that.

  219. keenglund replied:

Snide cousin: “Yea, you’ll try it until your kid gets big poops, then you’ll definitely quit.” How about supporting someone! Geez.

  220. Karli replied:

Never got any rude remarks, just a lot of eye brow raising and “you’re crazy” looks.

  221. Heather S. replied:

Good luck with that or I’ll give you a week!

  222. ryan replied:

    you have to touch pooo?

  223. carly replied:

we will see how long this lasts

  224. Janelle replied:

That’s so gross. Why would you put something that had poop in it n your baby.

Silly people don’t they know we clean diapers?

  225. Elizabeth replied:

Ew!! Doesn’t it make your washing machine all
    Gross?

  226. Christina Meyer replied:

I haven’t had many really bad comments, more just funny looks with a question of “why would you do that?”

  227. ann replied:

How do you wash out the washing machine after putting the diapers in there??

  228. Jessica replied:

most are positive responses, some say it is a waste of money and want to debate whether it is actually enviro friendly…

  229. jennifer replied:

That baby’s butt is gonna stay raw and irritated all the time!

  230. Stephanie P. replied:

    “You cloth diaper?” *wrinkles nose*

I get worse responses when people *cough*my best friend*cough* realize or remember that I use a moon cup and mama cloth instead of tampons.

  231. Nicole Zurcher replied:

“Why would you ever do that? It’s so disgusting!”

  232. Shane replied:

You mean you wash your clothes in the same washing machine as all that poop?

  233. Miranda replied:

I’ve been lucky, no negative comments just a few looks like I might be crazy. lol

  234. Heidi M. replied:

Why would you want to do that? That’s what they invented disposables for.

  235. Amy replied:

“ewww– isn’t that a lot of work?”

(DH regrets not switching until baby #4!)

  236. erin replied:

um, doesn’t your diaper bag stink like poo? (no, i have a great wetbag!).

  237. Rebecca M. replied:

I havn’t had any yet, but we have only been doing it for four months.

  238. Maria replied:

I’ve never received an un-friendly comment honestly, most people IRL don’t know that I CD!

  239. magslove replied:

I remember how excited I was when disposables came out I can’t imagine someone voluntarily using cloth.

  240. Rachel W replied:

Someone told me its not environmentally friendly to CD because I waste so much water. Whatever!

  241. wendy @ ABCs and Garden Peas replied:

“Um, no, I dont put feces in my washing machine. I don’t have time for that nonsense.”

    UGH!

People tell me that I care too much about being green!

  243. Teresa replied:

  245. Lisa replied:

I haven’t had any negative comments but a lot of weird looks. The nurse at the pedi was confused when I handed her a BG to balance her scale.

  246. Amy replied:

Does a bad argument with my BIL, who I normally really like, count? He was pissed that someone in his building washed diapers in the shared machines. Idiot.

  247. sarah replied:

It was said to me: “You are going to cloth diaper, that’s gross.”

  248. Leah R replied:

A lot of people get grossed out that I wash my clothes in the same machine as I wash poopy diapers!

  249. Hannah replied:

“nobody who wants to do cloth because of saving money reasons ever sticks with it…”

  250. Colleen Maurina replied:

The most ridiculous is someone who said it would hinder his walking – NOT!

  251. Betsy replied:

It will make it difficult for the kid to walk (from my mom! Who also always asks won’t it smell while standing next to the diaper pail)

  252. April replied:

From my husband: I don’t want my clothes washed right after you wash diapers. They’ll be covered in poo. 😡

  253. Carrie replied:

You’re putting that in our washer? Seriously? (from DH!)

  254. Jen replied:

i have honestly not had negative comments….just questions

  255. Suzie replied:

Eww! There is poop in your washer?!

gross, you put poop in your washing machine?

  262. tearah parker replied:

“how do you get your clothes clean with all that poop floating around in your washer?”

  263. Kerrie E. replied:

My Grandmother asked me why in the world I would want to put myself and my babies though all of that work in this day in age! She told me it would not last a week! This was of course before I showed her my dipes she was amazed and very supportive afterward.

  264. kforrest11 replied:

  268. fancygrlnancy replied:

mostly ok comments, but I have had the ewww what about the poop.. that is gross!

  269. Lauren P replied:

Nothing too nasty. My mom was worried about poop being left behind in my washing machine and getting on our clothes lol. She implied that when I visit her, she wants me to use sposies. 😦

  270. Heather A. replied:

    “eww, gross!”

  271. Tammy Weiss replied:

“I would had to see your washing machine.”

  277. Krista Myers replied:

    “You do? Really?”

That’s about the worst! Pretty good, huh?

  278. VirtualM replied:

the fact that i have to wash them scares most people – my sister in law thinks i’m insane for buying used cloth diapers because there’s nothing worse than sticking your kid in something that someone else has pooped in.

  279. Tiffany replied:

People think it’s gross to wash poop in the washing machine.

  280. Sarah Sparks replied:

I don’t get too many negative comments. My SIL so does not get it and is always telling me the best deals on sposies at Costco. I am catching heck for buying a portable hand crank washing machine to take hunting so I can wash my dipes and line dry them when we are up there for 10 days. So I have gotten numerous comments from her, just use sposies they are cheap you can throw them away. So yeah for DD 1st birthday we are asking for cute cloth diapers to add to our ever growing stash, so we will see if she gets us anything cute!

  281. Alissa replied:

My best friend just said, “really?” with a disgusted look on her face and then told me she could never do that.

  282. Ashley N replied:

Ewww, you put poop in your washer?

  286. Nancy D. replied:

Do you know how digesting that is to wash your dirty diapers in the same machine as your clothes!

  287. Stephanie G replied:

That’s so gross. I can’t believe you would put a diaper your child pooped in back on them again.

  288. manda2257 replied:

I was called a hippie yankee. (This is Georgia for you.)

  289. Jessica Shewmake replied:

“eww thats just gross”, with that stoody face.

That I must have a ton of free time.

  293. Jenn L replied:

I had to laugh, and then show her how much ONE cloth diaper costs and say “it’s not
because we are poor!” although… It is to save money!

  294. SaraB replied:

    You’re CRAZY

  295. Betty replied:

That I should stop having kids if I can’t afford “real” diapers

That’s too much work especially since it’s not worth handling feces.

  297. Katy Lindhag replied:

gross and it’s a lot of hard work! Lots of laundry

  298. Kaylene replied:

“It must be nice to have time for that.”

  300. craftymontanagirl replied:

My MIL: Oh – you are going to HATE cloth diapers. I’m buying you some disposables.

  301. Kali replied:

Just yucky & too much work.

  302. sarah replied:

I haven’t had too much negative feedback. A few people have told me they think it’s gross that I carry poopy diapers around in my diaper bag, even though they can’t see or smell it. And my husband thought it wouldn’t last more than a few weeks. Well it’s been 3 months now and still going strong. He’s a little more optimistic about them now that he’s seen how they work, and that we don’t fork out $$ every month for sposies.

  303. Carli replied:

“We’ll see how long that lasts.” It’s been 10 months and I wouldn’t do anything else!

  304. shaina replied:

Just a lot of discouraging, “we tried the first few months then switched to disposables.” Kind of like breastfeeding comments

I just get a dirty look and eww a lot!

That I wouldn’t stick with it. 16 months later and still going strong.

I was telling a close friend about how much money you can save by cloth diapering a baby, and she informed me that “If she could not afford disposiable diapers for her baby she should not be having kids”….hummm thats not what I ment..uggg

  308. Andrea M replied:

MIL – “We went through that so you wouldn’t have to!”
    Boo!

  309. tyler replied:

someone told me once that it was gross.

  310. Nicole replied:

you get poop in your washing machine ?

  311. Melissa Bodzioch replied:

a neighbors husband is just not supportive of it at all and really gives her guff about it including posting things on her FB wall.. it’s pretty tough to watch.. the worst was that he said he thought she would get sick of it and quit after the first week!! but the bottom line is he doesn’t like the poop in the washer! sighhh

  312. Heidi J replied:

    “Are you crazy?”

  313. Katie Stewart replied:

My husband said it was “Stupid” 😦 Seriously. I’ve tried to ease him into the idea, but he’s still not a big fan…

  314. nesta jessup replied:

a woman i met would works in a daycare told me they were gross and daycares hated people who just HAD to cloth diaper. i told her it’s a good thing my kids were never gonna go to daycare anyways. 🙂

  315. Lisa V replied:

A coworker told me it was nasty. And no, I did not ask his opinion.

I would say just that it must be gross dealing with washing the poop.

  321. Hannah Williams replied:

gross – why would you do that?

  322. serena replied:

I honestly don’t get too many negative cloth diaper comments. Probably part of living in the SF Bay Area. Thank goodness!

  323. Rachel D replied:

You’ll never last- all that extra laundry will be too much. And it’ll stink.

  324. Jennie V replied:

they stink really bad right? And how gross is that to wash in your washing machine!
